GIL Express and Interlibrary Loan

GIL Express and Interlibrary Loan

What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service available to current faculty, staff, and students at East Georgia State College. It is a borrowing service, that allows for the sharing of materials between libraries across the country. In addition to requesting physical items, you can request digital copies of articles, book chapters, reports and other resources.

  • The EGSC library strives to only request free materials.
  • Delivery times vary. Digital requests (such as for articles) can take a few days, while physical requests (such as books) typically take a few weeks.
  • Digital requests will be sent to your @ega.edu email.
  • This isn't an automated process, so you will have to directly contact the library staff if you would like to request an extension of your due date.
  • To request an item via ILL, reach out to our Library Associate. (Give as much information as you can.)
  • If you have any questions, contact us at library@ega.edu

Should I Use ILL?

1.  Search Our Catalog

  • Before putting in a request, use the GIL-Find @ EGSC catalog to view which resources EGSC own in print, media, ebook, and online streaming media. If you are on Augusta, or Statesboro campus you can also search AU and Southerns' catalog to see what items you can borrow from their library.
  • Can't find it? Go to Step 2.

2. GIL Express

  • Search all University System of Georgia (USG) libraries via the union catalog.(See video at right)
  • Still can't find it? Go to Step 3.

3. Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

  • Contact our Library Associate to request a specific item.
