Helpful strategies to use when searching GALILEO

Full-Text, Peer-Reviewed, & other Limiters

Too Many Results? Narrow Them Down

On the right-hand side of your GALILEO results page, you can find ways to limit the number of sources you find. Two of the most important ones for research papers are the "Full Text" and "Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals."

"Full Text" gives you access to the ENTIRE article, and "Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals" give you sources with the most professionally accurate information. Most professors stress the use of peer reviewed sources for this reason.

You can also limit your results by selecting different subjects you are looking for, how recent you want the information to be, the language it is written in, and more!

Discover Bar vs. Databases

Still Too Many?

The Discover Bar searches more of the content on GALILEO than any single database does. If you are using the search bar (picture below) to search your keywords, try choosing a database based on your subject instead.

To find a database, click the "All Databases" button on the GALILEO homepage.

In the search bar on the next page, search for your course subject. For example, search "history" or "literature." This will search all of GALILEO for databases for those specific subjects. This helps narrow down where to look for information.
